A Little About Me

I’m not really a writer, or an author, just a bit of a storyteller.

I remember as a girl asking my grandmother to tell me stories about my mother, but as the years passed it seemed she could remember very little. I ached to know more about my mother’s life, the middle daughter of three girls. But sadly, as my grandmother aged, the memories faded and the stories were lost forever. And then, my own mother passed away when I was only thirty-four.

I remember visiting my mother so many years ago. She would watch for my lights as I drove up the driveway.  No matter my arrival time, she would meet me at the door with a milk-filled coffee mug and four Oreo cookies. She would then grab herself a cup of decaf, and we would make our way to the den to talk for hours about everything and nothing.  So often, even now, I wish I could pour a mug of milk, grab some cookies, and curl up on the couch with her.  She was so kind, and wise, and incredibly loving.  How I long to hear some of her life’s simple truths.

I decided a few years ago to capture some of my own life stories, mostly because I’d like to be able to recall them someday when my girls are interested. This unexpectedly lead me to blogging which in turn lead me to writing children’s books.  I’m not an educator, nor am I a scholar.  I am not a journalist, nor do I have an English degree.  In fact, I almost failed my first college English course, but that’s a funny story for another time.  I am, however, hoping to pass along some laughter, some joy, and some lessons I’ve learned as I’ve made my way through this complex life God has given me.

Wishing you joy and peace,

Lorrie
